Imaginary Realities, December 1998.
The Fourth issue of this magazine is now out, apologies for the shortness
of this issue. Since it is the holiday season both the editors and
the people doing submissions had less time to devote to writing articles.
Hopefully we will be back and fluffy as before in January.
Thanks to those who did submit an article to us this month. This month
we have some articles from a few of the leading lights in bits of mud
development. We have an article by Richard Bartle, of MUD1 fame, and
from Geoff Wong, a well known contributer to the rec.games.lp newsgroup
and an administrator of Shattered World.
Why is MUD1 famous? Well it
is the first documented real mud to be running, it ran on a DEC-10 at
Essux University in 1980. The original code was written by Roy
Trubshaw in 1978 and was modified and added to by both Richard Bartle and
Roy Trubshaw. Shattered World is the oldest running Australian mud, and
one of the oldest running lp muds. So all you legends out there in the
mud world, write some more articles!
